Immédiatement je me sens entouré. ENGLISH TRANSLATION ______________________ Awoken by the light of the sun that penetrates easily into my dwelling on the green hill Immediately I feel surrounded. Surrounded by all the insistence cars that tear panicking all to redo it again tomorrow sighing. On the right path. Surrounded by hopeless effort to get out of the mud where we walk where we were born. Finding a ladder I climb into the clouds. Blinded by the mist I fall from the sky. Falling for hours I breathe in the void Accepting, finally The dry stream. The room is dark. I lie down in the darkness in the quiet. I offer my body to a place that wants nothing, that wants nothing from me.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION ______________________ I grew up believing in the myth that we all would find one day some north star that shines in the black sky. In its place we lower our heads, resigned. And I realize that everyone climbs to give meaning to the chaos. We convince ourselves of god of a reason to be everyone is desperate for that lantern and a little oil. a regular leader We climb on each other, determined And I realize that everyone climbs to pick mistletoe from the oak hoping for a remedy.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION _______________________ The first footsteps on the frozen snow where wolves no longer live we’re everywhere in our smoking shelters, that the frozen ground invited us to build. So we hide and we swallow the fire of our ancestors. We work to be isolated. Each one their debts and convictions. As I walk in the nature that remains in my hometown, an iron bridge in disrepair. Broken glass, ice that breaks under my black boots, I go toward the metal bridge in ruins that leads nowhere to bury my self-doubt. Seeing the sea covered in ships there is a spark that I want to swallow. I find the footsteps of another has already crushed this soil. We swallow the fire of our ancestors We work to be isolated Each one their debts, children born in a hospital We’re citizens of invented countries. Invented countries. We’ve lost life without borders. Always we’re pouring on top of eachother.

about

Forêt Endormie

These compositions aim to examine the contradictions of modern life. They explore the tension between comfort and anxiety, the rigid organization of human society, and acknowledging the uncaring truth of the natural world.

Written for violin, cello, piano, vibraphone, guitar, percussion, and voices, these pieces exist both within the classical tradition and without. The words are sung in French to acknowledge the Franco-American traditions that are becoming scarce in the state of Maine.

_____________

Quercus Alba:

This project is inspired by my experiences in the northern wilderness and forests of Minnesota, my heritage within them, and my rediscovery of these beautiful landscapes after my departure.

Protect, visit, and support your local wilderness and public lands. It is all we have left.
